2 weeks...already?

Travis loves these pics because it looks like Mack fell asleep while praying! I think it looks pretty cute. When she is asleep we can do pretty much anything with her and she stays asleep!! Last night Travis put her on a cold kitchen counter as a last resort to get her to wake up and eat, well she didn't even flinch!
For the title I put already with a question mark because it actually feels like it has been a month already, but it has only been 2 weeks. Just the long days and lack of sleep make it feel that way I guess.
This is just a sweet picture of Mack's face.

All the rest of these pics are Mack's 2 week photo shoot. I love this little outfit and she will only fit in it for another couple days most likely.

She is showing off how well she can lift her head!

Exhausted after the photo shoot. I just posted the pics I liked the best. No need to bore you with all of them.

The Best Husband/Dad Award

I just have to let my husband know that he has been the biggest support ever for me these last few weeks. He is always the best husband ever, but especially so through this whole labor and becoming parents process. I am just going to list off some of the things he has done for me and Mack.
1-helped me get up to go to the bathroom when I was hooked up to all the machines the first night (which was a lot of times)
2-talked me through my hard contractions
3-was the biggest help during the labor encouraging me and saying all the right things
4-held my leg (which was completely numb from the epidural) and massaged my shoulders during labor
5-gave me a hand to squeeze
6-took pictures of Mack right away
7-always offered to stay up and let me sleep even though he was just as sleep deprived
8-never left my side in the hospital
9-when we came home he helped comfort me and talk me through my emotional breakdowns
10-changes Mack's diaper all the time
11-is great with Mack whenever she cries
12-gives me countless massages
13-encourages me through my hard time with breastfeeding
14-always telling me I am a good Mom
15-is the "bad guy" and makes Mack stay awake during the day so she will sleep better for me at night
16-always offering to take a feeding during the night even though he has to work at 4 am
17-constantly asking what he can do to help me
18-just amazing with Mack
The list could go on and on but I don't want to bore everyone. Basically, I don't think I would have survived the last couple weeks without Travis and I am forever indebted to him. I have the best husband ever! His birthday is coming up at the end of the month and I really have to think of something good to make up for all the hard work he does for me and our little family!!
I love you babe!!!

She woke up!

Mackenzie is now a week old and she finally woke up for a little bit.
I love this one because she has her eyes crossed.

She sneezes a lot and I got a picture of it!

She was awake for almost an hour, so I snagged some pics. These 2 are my favorite.

The story

For those of you who like the labor story here is the super short version of mine. We found out Monday that my insurance would stop on the last day of September and if I did not have the baby by September 30th then we would have to pay the premium. (The ethics of that is a whole other story). When we went to the doctor on Tuesday she said I was 3 cm and 75% effaced and she would induce me that night if I wanted to. Because of the insurance situation we chose to go ahead with that. Tuesday night we went into the hospital and started the lowest does of potocine(don't know how to spell that). They upped it every 4 hours but I never felt anything happening. 8:00 Wednesday morning they broke my water and the contractions started. I ended up getting an epidural around 10:30 and had Mackenzie by 2:40 in the afternoon. So needless to say, we had our baby in time and the insurance has to pay for it!!

Some more pics...

What a happy, proud dad!

Mack with Papa. For those of you who don't know, my parents go by Mimi and Papa and Travis' parents`are Grandma and Grandpa. We do that so the kids don't get confused.

We are just resting. The hospital stay is super boring and the beds are not comfortable so there isn't much chance of getting any sleep. But we try to rest.

Yeah, a picture of her with her eyes open!!

Travis thought Mack's feet were super cute so we got this pic.

Everyone has to get the picture of the baby in the car seat. We got home from the hospital late Friday afternoon.

One happy little cousin finally able to hold baby Mackenzie. Brianna really wanted to come to the hospital to see the baby, but right now with the flu season being so bad no one under 18 years old can go into the birthing center. She did a good job waiting until we got home to hold her.

My sweet sleeping little baby! She does this about 23 hours every day. She will open her eyes and grace us with her presence once in a while usually adding up to about 1 hour total, if that.

Current update

Basically Mackenzie just sleeps all the time, which can be good, but she never wants to eat. She will never wake up on her own to eat and she gets so mad at us for waking her up. I really, really want to breastfeed and she is just not having it. She is getting all jaundice because she is not getting enough. Yes, we are those paranoid parents who have no idea what we are doing. People said I wouldn't have a problem because I have worked with kids of all ages at day cares, but I never had to survive the night or try to breast feed. I have a new found respect for all the breast feeders out there and just hope I can keep it up before I go insane!! Feel free to give any advice you might have!
